I'm reading Stephen Covey's book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". It's a great book. It's certainly what I need at this point in my life and the confusion I'm going through. Looks like this is the answer to my prayers...the guidance and direction I'm looking for. Here again is where fate toys with me. My graduation has been delayed from March to June because of this Career Development class. I took this online class which ends in June and it requires this book. It almost seem like things happened the way they did so that I can take this online Career Development class in spring and pick Mr. Covey's brain. The regular class in winter uses a different book. Funny how things work out. Divine providence??

Yay! We're having a baby girl! Oh my...I'm so happy, excited, and nervous at the same time. First things first, I'm very thankful that our baby looks healthy and normal (so far). Thank you God for blessing us with another baby. I'm a bit scared but more excited.

Whew! Gotta shop for new baby clothes. I guess we won't be recycling much of Josh's old clothes and toys. Josh, you're gonna be a kuya soon!

Oh man....I don't know what else to write. I'm just a bit overwhelmed. Jinkee and I had a small celebration this afternoon. We ate a hot fudge brownie sundae! heheheh

***edit***
I have to add this. May kakampi na rin ako! No matter what I do, no matter what Josh's mom does or doesn't do...sa kanya pa rin si Josh. My gosh, even if his mom is mad at his and I'm trying to console him. Ngayon may kakampi na rin ako....lagot ka Josh! heheheh

The start of my career...a new job on the horizon. I will be working for Digital Insight, an internet banking company. The company looks promising. They're still relatively small and new in the IT business but the business is thriving and getting bigger. They have offices in Sacramento, Atlanta, Athens (GA), and headquartered in Calabasas.

I received a package yesterday from my new employer. It was a knapsack with the name of the company in front. Inside are the welcome letter, company policies, non-disclosure agreements, insider trading information, a pen and mug with Digital Insight logo, and $5 gift card for Starbucks coffee. hehe. It's pretty cool. I feel so special. I guess that's what they're trying to impart anyway, and I should say that it's working.

I don't know if I'm excited or a bit scared. I have been at my job for more than 6 years and now I'm moving on. I just hope that Digital Insight will provide a lot of growth and well...I hope it has good employees too. Headaches in trying to get along with people is the last thing I need.

One of the yuckiest thing I've ever done is fix the toilet. No, not the bowl. The toilet tank. Still, our house is quite old and that toilet is probably at least 8 yrs old. The flush wasn't working. Water was leaking from the 3" rubber valve that leads to the toilet bowl. Are you disgusted yet?

The black rubber was so old it's almost like it's melting. It sticks to you when hold it but only a layer of it. I had to unbolt that big ceramic tank from the bowl to change everything inside the tank. The tank isn't really that heavy but it is kinda dirty. Good thing I have my wife to help me clean it while I remove those rusty screws.

It took more than an hour to figure everything out and replace everything. What a relief! It felt like a great accomplishment after I finished....after we finished. Had to take a longshower coz it felt like a trillion germs held onto my hands. I am a bit OC. Hmm...am a bit of an extreme. It's either I don't get my hands and feet dirty or I really dig into the dirt. There's usually no in-between.

There are a lot of stupid drivers in LA. I wanted to use a stronger word than "stupid". They deserve the meaner synonym of it.

*Bumusina ka, libre naman yan eh* - Only a handful knows about that thingamajig in the center of the steering wheel. Either they don't know what it is and what it's for or they probably think there's a charge for using it. They watch helplessly as another car moves in to their lane. If they're lucky then the car narrowly misses theirs. The unlucky ones gets in an accident. My co-worker was telling me the story of his sis-in-law. She totalled her car. She got hit by another car going towards her lane. She spun and crashed in the center divider. When my co-worker asked her what happened, she said she couldn't go anywhere when this car was approaching since she was on the fast lane. Then my co-worker asked, "So what did you do when you saw the car approaching." Well, she basically sat there and wait for the car to hit her because there was nowhere else for her to go. She didn't even honk!!! When confronted with the question why she didn't use the horn. She said people think it's rude when you honk. Oh, so you'd rather crash than make others think your rude? $#$@!

"Is common sense common?" - *CARPOOL LANES* We have a carpool lane in most freeways that usually get congested. If there are two or more people in the car then you can use the carpool lane. If you are alone and used it...well, if the California Highway Patrol catches you then that's a ticket plus $350+ fine. The carpool lane was established to encourage people to carpool (duh), thus decreasing the cars on the road and therefore reducing traffic congestion and reduces pollution too. There are usually just a few cars in the carpool lanes. While the rest of the freeway lanes are sluggish, the carpool lanes are often moving swiftly. That is, if the idiot driver is not around. He does have at least 2 people in the car, but he friggin moves slower or just as fast as the rest of the freeway. Uhm, sir, what the hell are you doing in this carpool lane if everyone in the $%!#$ freeway is moving faster than you. You see the cars on the right are passing you by and yet you insist on being here on the carpool lane. WTF?!?!?!

more idiot driver stories to come....<to be continued>

I live in this country dubbed "the land of the free". Yep, it's free alright. Here, people place too much emphasis on freedom of speech. They value the 'right' to speak your mind more than the actual value of what you've said. Voice your opinion no matter how dumb it is. It must be heard! That is your right. You proclaim the world is flat and take followers with you. Worship Hitler if you like and create a religion of it.

Freedom here comes without much responsibility. You have the KKK, the white supremacists, free to form and congregate...even go on a town rally. They round up and shout that only whites deserve to live. I guess what follows is that everyone else deserves to die.

Are you up for creating your own neo-nazi group and website? That's part of your freedom as well. You have this kid that just went shooting people in his school because of the twisted ideals posted and shared in that site. Nope, you can't take the site down. They have the right to post their opinions and ideas. They never encouraged the kid to shoot anyone. They're not in violation!

You have superstars who say "I just say what I want to say" when asked "Aren't you concerned of what your young fans and audience would get from your lyrics?"

Land of the free. Where idiots that either lack attention or carry enormous amounts of psychopathic gene in their bodies are free to roam and proclaim their oh so mighty beliefs.

Q: You see three 12-pack beer in a cart at the supermarket parking lot. The owner obviously forgot to take it. Do you return it to the store?..take it with you?

I dropped off Jinkee at the church. She's leading tonight's women's bible study/life group. Of course Josh is with me. As Josh sat there almost in tears because he wants to be with "mommy". I comfort him with this question: "You want to buy The Incredibles?" The movie has just been released in DVD today. That took care of him....for the moment.

We got to Costco, bought the DVD, bought a map, and a hotdog. I put Josh in the car seat, put the grocery in the car. While putting the cart away, I saw this shopping cart with a 12-pack Guinness and two 12-pack Sharp Lager underneath. The guy in a pickup truck must have left it. It's too late to go after him. So there I was thinking, "should I take this back to the store, maybe the guy will come back for 'em." The other thought was, "this is already paid for and if the guy doesn't come back then only the store profitted...wait, will re-profit from this." So what is the right thing to do? Is it considered stealing if you take it? Do you take it to the store? It'll be out of your conscience and it's left to the "store's own conscience". Do I just leave it at the cart? I didn't really ask myself that last question but it occurred to me now. I think others would consider it. Personally, in this case, I think inaction would be a greater mistake than any other choice.

Our group met yesterday for our senior project. We were going on a "field trip". We are on a cybercafe hunt.

[Barbs flaked out again. Damn Barbs, please call me when you can't make it. You can tell me it's too far, you're feeling lazy, you have a cold, whatever. Just call me to let me know. First, because I'm on your side and you're making it worse by not calling or picking up your phone. Second, because I get irritated when people are late and I don't know what has happened.]

We cruised down Ventura Boulevard for about 6 miles. Damn! The place is not a cybercafe. What a waste of gas. So we just ate at a Cuban restaurant in Ventura. Hey, it's Versailles! Isn't that the name of the restaurant in Pico? Yes it is! I've eaten there before....yummy porkchops! As we were entering the restaurant, Jose calls out, "Hey isn't that the FUNNY GUY?" Hahahaha, he was pointing at the white dude's face. It's Ryan Stiles from "Who's Line is it Anyway?" Is he tall or what?? He's probably 6'8".

***************************
We finally got to a cybercafe - 3000AD Cyber-City. Not so shabby. Cheaper than the others we've visited before. $2 per hour for non-members and a buck for members. No one's there though. Okay, observe, observe....then back to school.

Barbs is there, whoa! Aren't you supposed to be in class? Well, you're not going either so I'm not going, haha. Okay, let's do another field trip then. Look for location! We ended up playing video games and shooting hoops at an arcade in The Plant. That was fun.

Back to school again..then an exam! sheesh
